BasicGrey Challenge #24 - Pockets

Another fantastic challenge this week on the BasicGrey Challenge Blog - Pockets. It can be any sort of pocket at all but don't forget, you have to use at least one piece of BasicGrey in your creation.

I will admit that I was scared when this challenge was suggested as I have only made one other thing before with a pocket in it ! I had in my hands my new BG paper, image and 12x12 card and I went in search of a good tutorial and found a fantastic tutorial on Splitcoasters by Claudia Rosa and I was amazed at how easy it was to follow - even for me !

Here is my pocket card

I used a sheet of Bazzill swiss dotted white card - this is gorgeous and if you haven't tried it yet, you must !

The patterned papers are BasicGrey "Marrakech" - another must have. These papers are absolutely stunning. The chaps at BG have certainly come up trumps this time with their new products. I had already chosen my papers before seeing this tutorial so imagine my surprise when this tutorial already featured blue paper - at least its different blue paper !

The image I have used is cutie Tilda with her lilacs and I will admit to changing my image as I just thought that this one was the perfect choice. She is coloured with ProMarkers. Cocoa and henna (hair), ivory and blush (skin), rose pink and maroon (t-shirt, heart, patch and shoes), cornflower and china blue (jeans and bow), marsh green and olive green (leaves), amythest and lilac (lilacs). I put Tilda on some nestie circles. The bluey/green card is some Core'dinations. The flowers are blue flowers from my stash, Hero Arts green flowers and those gorgeous paper roses from HobbyCraft which I have very light dabbed with some diamond Stickles to give them a little twinkle.

I made the tags with the left over Bazzill and Core'dinations. The first tag has the Magnolia cupcake on it and this was also coloured with ProMarkers and I used the same colours as on Tilda, cocoa and henna (cake wrapper), saffron and sandstone (cake), rose pink and maroon (icing), ruby (hearts), cornflower and china blue (bow).

I have stamped the second tag with a set of clear stamps from Papermania which came free with their "Creativity Life" magazine. I stamped the images in Memento sweet plum ink although this wasn't really the best ink to use on this Bazzill as it tended to bleed a little. The little flowers have been coloured with cornflower and china blue ProMarkers. The bluey/green card has been punched with my new MS Valentine Heart punch which is to form part of the family silver when I had finished with it ! There are some tiny little blue pearls above the hearts. The ribbons are from Cleo Crafts

I also went right to the end of the tutorial and made a back to my card and decorated the inside with the tiny left over bits which I couldn't bear to throw away ! The sentiment is by Craftwork Cards.

Happy Birthday Tilda and Friends !

I had a quick hour yesterday while Fizzy was sleeping and I was fiddling and really wanted to make something but you know how it is, you get to a crucial part with knives and scissors everywhere and they wake up !

I had seen that Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge are celebrating their first birthday and the theme was of course "Birthdays" ! I knew that hopefully I would be able to join in a challenge and get rid of my fiddling by making an ATC.

I dug out from the bottom of my stamps drawer a Tilda I haven't used for a very long time which makes a lovely change and of course, I coloured her with ProMarkers. Ivory and blush (skin), that scary combination of rose pink and maroon (dress), mustard and sandstone (hair), satin and sandstone (lacy bottom of dress), canary and marsh green (flower).

The patterned paper is from Kaboodle Doodles "Party Picnic" which I stamped with a Hero Arts "Happy Birthday" stamp.

The ribbon is from Little Claire Designs

Time for Apple Pie

Good morning !

I could just eat a nice slice of warm apple pie with gorgeous vanilla ice cream right now, couldn't you ? I'm always thinking of food me !

I recently received this gorgeous Sarah Kay stamp and I have been dying to use it and when I managed to get my hands on the new BasicGrey "Porcelain" paper pad, I knew they went perfectly together.







Now you may notice that there is some real stitching on this card ! After seeing some amazing creations with real stitching on them I just knew I had to dig my old sewing machine out from the deepest, darkest depths of the spare room and have a go. Unfortunately some spiders webs came out with it but I can assure you that no spiders were harmed for the making of this card !!

After finding the worn and torn instruction book which I had to sellotape back together so the instructions came in order, setting it all up and starting, I realised why my sewing machine had been put in the deepest, darkest depths of the spare room - I am soooo hopeless at sewing anything, by hand or machine ! The machine was totally in control of me and the air was blue !! I will persevere though but don't expect great miracles to happen and beautifully turned out stitched cards, that won't happen in a million years !!!

The white base card is from The Papermillshop.

The patterned papers are BasicGrey "Porcelain" and everyone of the papers in this pad is gorgeous and you really do have to talk yourself into not being so silly and use them ! The pink card is Core'dinations which I have punched with a MS floral border punch.

The Sarah Kay image has been coloured with ProMarkers (of course ). Mustard (hair), ivory and blush (skin), Marsh green, olive green and moss (hat and apron), rose pink and maroon (dress and shoes) (scary combination when you first put pen to paper !), mustard and cinnamon (basket), lime green and green (apples), grass and marsh green (grass), cool grey 2 (outline).

The sentiment is from a set of clear stamps by simonsaysstamp and can be found here. The set is called "Card Sentiments". Simonsaystamp have also started selling Sarah Kay stamps too !

The flowers are a mixture of Hero Arts, Prima and gorgeous, gorgeous paper roses from HobbyCraft.

The ribbon is from my stash.

I also decorated the inside of the card with the off cuts I had left and added a nestie label cut piece of card which I rubbed with shabby shutters distress ink.

I love how this card turned out, I don't know how I'm going to part with it !!

Cats and Dogs

Good morning all ! What a change this morning, its all dark and drizzly again - yuk ! Hopefully this little cardett might cheer you up with its bright colours and cutie cats and dogs.

Don't you just love this patterned paper ? It's by "The Paper Company" and its called "Paws and Claws Doggie Argyle". It's 12x12 and they also do one for cats which no doubt I shall be showing you soon.

The base card is a gorgeous yellow Bazzill.

The cutie images are from a set of stamps called "Cat and Dog are Best Friends" by simonsaysstamp and you can find them here. You already know that they have been coloured with my ProMarkers but I can't find my label of the colours I used. If I find it stuck to the back of another card, I'll edit with the colours !!

The scalloped circles have been cut with my nesties. The dark orange card is Core'dinations which has been sanded on the edges and the blue card is from the Papermania card stack.

I also decorated the inside of the card too simply. The labels have been cut with my label nesties and the orange paper is the reverse of the patterned paper. All the stamps used come from this fabby set.

Now not being very "techy" I didn't realise that you could have your photos larger on your blog (I didn't see those little boxes to tick !). I have now ticked the box and have nice large photos. What do you think, is it better ?

Frogs !

Good afternoon (just !), what a gorgeous day it is out there, possitively springlike although the wind still has a bit of a nip in it just to keep us on our toes !

Today I am showing you frogs, yes, frogs ! My DT goodies arrived from across the pond from simonsaysstamp and I was so excited when I pulled out of the envelope this fantastic set of frog stamps ! If you look at them here you will see how fantastic and fun they are !

I had also seen on other people's blogs the fantastic sketch that was for the challenge on the new challenge blog Truly Scrumptious and this was the perfect sketch to use with my new stamps. You should see their DT creations, they are wonderful.

Without further ado, here are my frogs !





The white base card is from The Papermillshop.

I am sooooo sorry but I have no idea what the pattered paper is, I received it for my Birthday in a RAK but isn't it fantastic ? If you do know the name of it, I would love to know.

The bluey/green and yellow card is from the Papermania card stack.

All the stamps used are from the set "Frogs Jumping for Joy" from simonsaysstamp. I have coloured these little chaps with my faithful PM's and I used green, grass and meadow green.

The zoomz are by Robins Nest which are also from simonsaysstamp.

The ribbon is from Poppicrafts.

The flowers, brad and scrappers floss are from my stash.

I decorated the inside very simply because I didn't have a lot of paper left and I punched the green paper with my Fiskars Water Threading Punch.

The little frog is also from the same set and coloured with the same colour pens.

Colour Create - Challenge #4

This week on the Colour Create Challenge Blog.....

Well, this cutie little piccie says it all really. The colours for this week are pink and grey and the extra option is "cute and cuddly". There, quite an easy one for you this week !

This is my little cuddly buddly for this week.....

I took inspiration for this card from the fantastic sketch by Katharina

I printed directly onto some white card a flowers and hearts patterned paper from Pink Petticoat.

The grey and pink card is from a Papermania 6x6 card stack. I punched the grey card with my MS small valentine hearts punch.

The patterned papers are DCWV Nana's Nursery for Girls which are gorgeous and there are some yummy papers in there too which you don't have to use for baby/children's cards.

The image is Sugar Nellie "Dexter the Bear". Umm, perhaps he shouldn't be grey ? Oh well, Ski has a green rabbit which is her favourite snuggly and have you ever seen a green rabbit ?!!

Dexter has been coloured with Promarkers. Now when I started my journey into ProMarker World I told my DH that I wouldn't possibly need all those grey pens, why on earth would you want all those grey pens ? Well let me tell you, I am still working my way through eating that hat as we speak because you do NEED all those grey pens and this image proves it !!! I have used warm grey 2, 3 and 4 for Dexter (could have used more if I was expert at colouring like some of you are ;o) ), blender pen (all over), blossom and rose pink (jumper), cool grey 2 (outline).

The pink flowers are from my stash and the grey flowers started out as cream Prima flowers (I bought a humongous bag from simonsaysstamp which are all different shapes and sizes) and I coloured them with warm grey 2.

The brads and spacers are from my stash and the heart charm was a lovely gift from my good friend Kim

BasicGrey Challenge #23

This week on the BasicGrey Challenge Blog the challenge is ........

Break your finger, strap it with tape to your other fingers and then we want to see your most stunning creation ever !! Easy as that !!

Whoops, that's only my very talented fellow DT member Rica that does tricks like that !!! If you are reading this my friend, I hope it feels better very soon. All the DT's creations are fantastic this week but the bravery and talent award has to go to Rica this week 'cause I don't know how she did it (perhaps she has a talented OH up her sleeve ?!!).

On with the real challenge this week. This week we have a colour combo. Pink and green, pink and brown or blue and brown. Don't forget you have to use at least one BasicGrey product on your creation.

This week our sponsor is The Cutting Cafe and we were very lucky this week and received from Regina her "All About Cupcakes" download to play with which was so kind.

This is the card I made with the download and for the challenge this week.

I used brown Bazzill as my base card.

The pink and brown papers are BasicGrey from "Bittersweet". The pink paper has been punched with a Fiskars scalloped daisy border punch.

The patterned paper is DCWV "Sweet" - these are so yummy and were perfect for this challenge.

The cupcake has been coloured with ProMarkers, cinnamon and burnt sienna (cake), blossom and rose pink (icing), amethyst, lilac and lemon (flower).

Now if you zoom in and look carefully, the top of the cake has been covered with glossy accents, tiny pink and purple beads sprinkled over the top and also twinklets which I love because it looks like it is sugar coated - yum ! yum ! If you look extra careful you will see that I have done the same with the tiny cupcake on the sentiment.

I also decorated the inside....

I'm sorry I've been a bad blogger this week. Being half term I've had Ski at home and we've been busy bees all week and I've only found the time to make my DT cards.

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge # 2

This week on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge blog we have a sketch for you 'cause we all know how much you like sketches and the prize is ...... blog candy !! Don't forget, if you use one of the Kaboodle Doodle downloads, you will be entered into the draw not once but twice ! Just how fabby is that ?!

This is my creation for this week....

The papers I have used are from the Kaboodle Doodles new download called "New Dots Kit" which actually consists of dots and stripes all colour coordinating. The pink paper behind the image is from the download called "New Old Kit" and has that vintage feel about it.

The image is a stamp I bought from Sally-Anne at Love to Doodle a while back. I believe that Sally-Anne will be making some of her downloads into clear stamps again. Check out her blog to find out more. The image has been coloured with PM's, magenta (dress), cinnamon and henna (hair), ivory and blush (skin), yellow and mustard (flowers), grass and meadow green (grass), blossom (butterfly).

Around the image I have stamped this gorgeous little florish which is Papermania Snag 'em Stamp Duos, Floral Elegance in raspberry Versa Colour. These are fantastic little stamps. I bought mine from e-bay for about £2 a pack. I also decorated the inside of the card similarly but I didn't have chance to take a photo of that. It was whipped away to be used as a very quick birthday card for one of Ski's friend's whose party she was due to go to at that very moment and she had forgotten - kids hey !!!!

The ribbon is from Poppicrafts and the button is from a £1 bag of buttons from my local market.

Colour Create - Challenge #3

Good morning and welcome to another exciting week at the Colour Create Challenge Blog ! If you thought last week was testing, read on !!

This week......

"We would like you to make your card or project this week using the colours red, white and blue. There is an extra option available which you can use if you wish, although this isn't compulsory. This week's option is 'Holidays and Travel' and I hope that the wonderful Design Team cards will give you the inspiration you need. Finally, remember that you are allowed to combine our challenge with any other you would like to take part in during the week. GOOD LUCK!!!"

Here is my card....



I used some red Bazzill as my base card

The patterned papers are K&Company "Hopscotch".

The blue card is also K&Company "Hopscotch" but is the double sided designer mat pad for photos. I punched this with my SU spiral punch.

The image is by Elzybells and I have coloured it using ProMarkers, indigo blue, ruby and poppy (car), warm grey 5 and white gel pen (wheels), green (t-shirt), indigo blue (hat), ivory and blush (skin), warm grey 5 (seat), cool grey 1 (windscreen). I have also punched the image with my SU Spiral Punch and rubbed weathered wood and black soot distress inks onto the paper.

The banner was made by me and has been shaped using a pencil and stuck down at various points to give the effect of it moving like a flag - well, I do try !!!!

The ribbon and button are from my stash and so are the little red brads.

There is a real feeling of Summer and those much needed holidays on the blog which have been created by the very talented DT this week - you must go and have a look !

BasicGrey Challenge #22

Happy Valentine's Day to all my lovely blogging friends - I hope you all get spoiled rotten today 'cause you well and truly deserve it. To celebrate this special day, today on the BasicGrey Challenge Blog.......

"As today is a very special day, we would like you to get all loved up in your creations and show us some hearts, it can be any size and any quantity of hearts you wish, and also not forgetting to use at least one item from BasicGrey somewhere on your creation"

I used some dark brown Bazzill as my base card.

The patterned paper is BasicGrey "Bittersweet" and I distressed the edges using distress ink.

All the stamps used (swirls around the outside edge, music and rose) are from Penny Black's "Clearly in Love" set which is absolutely gorgeous.

The swirls have been stamped in gold ink.

I cut a heart with my heart nesties and stamped the music score with distress ink.

The rose has been stamped with black versafine and coloured with distress inks.

The lace is from my stash and I made the pin from various beads in my stash. The pearls are also from my stash.

The sentiment is by October Afternoon.

You must go and see the other DT's creations. Wow, they are truly amazing this week !

All Heart

As promised, here is the second card I have made with the fantastic new stamp from Toodles and Binks called "Grow a Little Love" and it can be purchased at Stamp Galaxy.



The scalloped card is from Little Claire Designs

The patterned papers are BasicGrey "Bittersweet".

The little hearts are cut from my heart nesties.

The image is of course Toodles and Binks "Grow a Little Love" and the sentiment is also included with the tree. The tree has been coloured with ProMarkers, cinnamon, henna, ruby and poppy and the hearts have had the glossy accents touch. I tried my hand at doodling the outside edge of the image and used tattered rose distress ink on the edges.

The heart shaped eyelets and ribbon are from my stash.

The heart charm is from e-bay.

Toodles and Binks will be releasing a new set of stamps very soon and they are showing a sneek previous on their blog. I can't wait to see what they will be !

Right, off to school and then let the madness begin of my taxi duties !

The Lurve Tree !

One of my favourite blogs to look at is the Toodles and Binks blog as I love their range of stamps and I love to see what their DT have been up to and what amazing creations they have made with their stamps. I was lucky enough to win their latest stamp "In My Garden Love Grows" which is this gorgeous love tree and sentiment. I have made a couple of cards and this is one of them. I shall blog the other one tomorrow.



I used some cream Bazzill as the base card.

The patterned papers are BasicGrey "Bittersweet". I stamped the red paper with some PaperArtsy stamps in brown ink.

The images are :

Tilda (which I received in a RAK) sitting on a Magnolia bench. These have been coloured with ProMarkers. Mustard and sandstone (hair), ivory and blush (skin), satin and sandstone (top and stripes on socks), rose pink and blossom (dress, bows and stripes on socks). The bench has been coloured using cinnamon and henna. These have been raised on little sticky pads.

The tree is by Toodles and Binks and can be purchased at Stamp Galaxy . I have coloured the tree with ProMarkers, cinnamon and henna (trunk), ruby and poppy (hearts). I have covered the hearts in glossy accents. I also chalked the background with blue and green chalk. I'm not sure that it should be a rectangle, I feel it "sticks out" too much. I shall have to rethink this next time.

The flowers have been cut with a EK Success Retro Flower punch and I have added two Hero Arts brown flowers, spacers from my stash and two pink BasicGrey brads. The leaves are a Leone Em leaf punch.

I hope you managed to escape the worst of the weather last night. We didn't get any snow at all, just lashing rain and high winds but the problem is now flooding in this area.

My heart goes out to all those poor people in Australia, it is such terrible news coming from there.

Colour Create - Challenge #2 - Peach and Aqua

This week on Create and Colour Challenge Blog ......

"Please make your card using Peach and Aqua. You can also use cream/white for your cardstock and flesh colours for any images.

There is an extra option available which you can use if you wish, although this isn't compulsory. This week's option is 'DIY flowers', which means not using any pre made, bought flowers on your cards and projects. Here are some ideas which might help:

Stamp a flower onto card and cut it out

Punch and layer flowers

Die cut flowers

Doodle your own flowers

Stitch flowers

Peel and mount stickers to form a flower

Use shaped petals eg, hearts to form a flower

Make flowers from Nestie shapes

Make a ribbon flower

I'm sure there are lots more ways, please feel free to come up with your own! Don't forget that embossing, distressing, ink edging, etc will all add to the effect and you could add a stamen to the centre. Also glitter, glossy accents, liquid pearl drops might work well. Unusual materials might include tissue paper, vellum, acetate, chipboard...... just a few ideas.Finally, remember that you are allowed to combine our challenge with any other you would like to take part in during the week. GOOD LUCK!!!"

This is the card I made for this week's challenge....

The three patterned papers I used are Making Memories "Chloe's Closet" which are so yummy and absolutely perfect for this challenge. I layered these onto some aqua and orangy/peach Core'dinations card.

The sentiment was computer generated by me. I received a card from a friend of mine a long time ago and I still have it sat in front of me on my desk because I love it so much and on the front it has this sentiment.

The flowers behind the sentiment are a Penny Black "Constellations" stamp which I coloured with peach, aqua and green Whispers pens and then lightly spritzed it with water to give a water coloured look and stamped it over the top of the sentiment.

I made the button flowers with two pieces of lace I had received in a RAK. The lace is the good quality, stiff lace you can buy. I sewed a running stitch along the top of both pieces and then gathered it up to make a circle. I then sewed the edges together to keep it all in place and glued a button to the centre.

The aqua and peach ribbons are from my stash. I used the offcuts to decorate and edge of the image.

The three flower brads at the bottom are Making Memory's brads which match the Chloe's Closet paper.

I also decorated the inside.....

I used the same patterned paper and Core'dinations, which I punched with my MS floral border punch, as on the outside.

I made two daisies with offcuts of the patterned papers with my nesting daisy punches (had to dig these out from the bottom of my drawers and blow the dust off !!!).

I stamped a stem from a Studio G florish stamp in brown ink.

The peach gems I received in a RAK.

We had a huge response last week to our first challenge which was amazing and we thank you so much for coming to play with us.

BasicGrey Challenge #21

Wow, what a week ! Sorry I have been AWOL but I have been very busy making - snowmen and snowladies !! We had over 6" of snow here in Wiltshire - totally unheard of for this area so we all made the most of it. The school has been closed for the past 2 days and its been fantastic.

Back to business and this week on the BasicGrey Challenge Blog .......

It's time to mix it all up. We would like you to use at least two different BasicGrey ranges in your creations, for eg Blush papers and Boxer Brads or Archaic chip stickers, Sultry papers and cupcake fibers, the possibilities are endless, so what are you waiting for lets mix it up.

What a fantastic challenge and it certainly gets your thinking cap on. This is the card I made for this week's challenge.....




I started off with the image because I had just received this little cutie from Tracy at Dies to Die For. It is a High Hopes stamp called "Froggy Gift" and I love it ! He has been coloured with ProMarkers and these are the colours :

Hat - ruby and poppy and satin and sandstone
Top - ruby, poppy and satin
Dungarees - petrol blue, ruby and poppy
Frog - marsh green, olive green and ruby
Catapult - cinnamon and henna
skin - ivory and blush

The base card is brown Bazzill on top of which I have layed some sandy coloured Core'dinations card and distressed the edges with a Heidi Swapp distresser (great buy for £1.50 or so). All the papers I have used have been distressed as I wanted that "rough" look !

I also used some dark brown Core'dinations which I punched with my SU spiral punch and an oval piece for the image to sit on which I ran through my Cuttlebug with the bubbles embossing folder and then sanded.

The patterned papers are Archaic for the green and Wassail for the red spotty one. As my good friend Tara says "Christmas paper is not just for Christmas" !!

The red brads are BasicGrey Wassail brads.

The copper star brads and ribbon are from my stash.

I also decorated the inside too......



The left hand piece of paper is from Archaic. I wouldn't have bothered to add a piece of paper to this side of the card but I have this difficulty in remembering to add the brads before sticking all the layers down and so consequently a lot of the time, I have the backs of the brads showing through to the otherside of the card ! I must try and think in advance before sticking everything down !!

The right hand side patterned paper is Wassail again and I stamped the same image on one of my label nesties, distressed the edges with old paper distress ink, coloured him in the same colours as the outer image and added "Hoppy Birthday" with some Studio G alphabet stamps.

I am looking forward to seeing what combinations you come up with.

This is the card I made for this week's challenge :



The patterned papers are "Scribble" by Kaboodle Doodles which are now for sale in the Kaboodle Doodles Shop.

The hearts were cut on my Cricut from more "Scribble" paper.

The cutie bear was a free stamp from the magazine Quick Cards Made Easy. I coloured him with ProMarkers and covered the heart he is holding in glossy accents.

I cut the smaller hearts too on my Cricut from "Scribble Paper" and added crackle accents to this and attached it to some rafia which I received in a RAK for my birthday.

Welcome to......COLOUR CREATE !

Today is the day that the ribbon has been cut on the brand new challenge blog Colour Create !

To celebrate our launch we are giving away the most amazing blog candy and a winner will be chosen and revealed next Sunday along with challenge 2.

We will also be inviting each week one person to become a guest designer. So, what are you waiting for ?

You can also use cream/white for your cardstock and flesh colours for any images.

There is an extra option available which you can use if you wish, although this isn't compulsory. This week's option is 'butterflies'.

Finally, remember that you are allowed to combine our challenge with any other you would like to take part in during the week. GOOD LUCK!!!

This is the card that I made for this week's challenge......

I used brown Bazzill CS for the base card.

The patterned papers are Papermania Retro Floral.

The image is by Penny Black "Water Lily Skiing" which I coloured with ProMarkers. Cinnamon, henna and blush (mouse), blossom and rose pink (flower petals), marsh green and olive green (leaf), cool aqua and sky blue (water), amethyst and Copic Ciao dark pink RV34 (butterfly), Copic Ciao cool gray No. 1 C-1 (outline). I also used the blender pen. I also used a clear Sakura gel pen on the butterfly to add sparkle. I decoupaged the butterfly to give a 3'd look and I cut a very thin ribbon of pink card and twirled it around a pencil for the mouse to hold seeing as I had cut up the image !

The image has been mounted onto a white oval cut with my nesties and embossed with my swirls Cuttlebug folder (I thought it may give the look of water). I did put some very pale blue chalk on the swirls but I don't think this shows in the picture. I also added some distress ink (old paper I think) to the oval.

The ribbon is from my stash. The button is a clear button which I stuck to the green and pink patterned paper with glossy accents and then cut out so I could have a matching button for the paper. I added a butterfly charm and some green cord to the button.

The flowers are white Prima flowers which I coloured with Copic Ciao dark pink RV34 and cinnamon ProMarker. The brad was white but I coloured this with the Copic dark pink pen. The leaves are from some scrap green paper and a Leone Em leaf punch.

The sentiment is from a pack of birthday sentiments Oh My Word ! Craftwork Cards.

You will also see that that pesky MS punch made an appearance again too !!!
