Simply Homemade Magazine Guest

Hello ! Only 4 more sleeps to go....well, that is if the World doesn't end today of course !!!

I was asked a few weeks ago if I would like to be a Guest for Simply Homemade Magazine in their take of the 12 Days of Christmas.  Of course, I leapt at the chance !

You can see all the other 11 Days of Christmas HERE made by other crafters, some of whom you may recognise.

I was asked for my take on "12 Drummers Drumming" and this is the result.

You can see the top better in these two photos

This is how I made the drum :

I started off with a snack container (shame I had to eat all the contents first !) and cut it in half with a hack saw.  I kept the bottom half and then put the lid on the top

Cut the paper to go around the snack container (I used BoBunny Snowfall 12x12 papers).  The strip of paper wasn't quite long enough to go all the way around so I had to have a join at the back of the drum which was later covered with the silver rope and pom pom embellishments.  I covered the top of the drum with a circular piece of Snowfall paper and it looked like this...

I then coloured my image which is by Whiff of Joy "Wee and Drum" with Copic pens and fussy cut it out.  This little chap was just perfect for this project.

The drumsticks were made with drinks stirrers !  I cut then down and then covered them very messily with some very tacky glue and then wound some garden twine around them until they were completely covered.  When they were dry, I inked them with some Vintage Photo Distress ink.

I loved making this drum and it has pride of place amongst my Christmas decorations and I hope it will do for years to come !

I was like to say a big thank you to Simply Homemade Magazine for asking me to take part in their 12 Days of Christmas and also to Katharina of Whiff of Joy for getting my order to me sooo quickly !

Thank you so much for your visit and I look forward to seeing you again soon !

Have a great day !
