Hearts and Kisses and BasicGrey Challenges news !

Wow, it's Bank Holiday Monday and the sun is shining ! So, what are you up to today ? I'm not sure what we are doing today, play it by ear I think ! It's just nice to relax before the rush to school starts again on Wednesday.

Before I tell you about hearts and kisses, I have just copied this from the BasicGrey Challenges Blog......... it's sooo exciting !!!

"Just a quick post to let you all know that me and the team have been busy working away behind the scenes and that have some fab things in store for BG Challenges :), An upcoming Blog Hop and a brand new look among other things :), we also think its about time we added some new Design Team Members to our BG Challenges Family, don't you? :), which is the main reason for this post, it is just to give you a little heads up that the DT Call for our new family members will be posted along with the new challenge this Saturday on the 4th of September :), hope to see you there :)

xx

The BasicGrey Challenges Team"

Something a bit different from me today (apart from the fact that this is my second post in as many days !).

I was introducted to Tando Creative a little while ago when my lovely blogging buddy Leann made a beautiful basket. Tando Creative make cut chipboard whether it be shapes you can decorate or more alterable items such as baskets, wallhangings, even sets of shelves you can store your inks and other crafty bits on !

Anyway, I saw this wallhanging in Angel Crafts online store and I saw the one they had decorated in their gallery and just fell in love with it.

Having never really made anything like this before I took inspiration from the one they made although added some of my own personal touchs to it. I loved the DP's they used so bought those along with the heart wreath.

The DP's are Crate Paper - Pink Plum.

I painted the main heart with white crackle paint and then inked the edges with tattered rose distress ink.

The hearts and crosses were covered with pieces of the Crate Paper and I inked the edges with some walnut stain distress ink.

The hearts and crosses were then glued to the main heart and I added some pearl glimmer mist, pearls, ribbons and roses (which are Prima) and a white ribbon to the top.

Now I've seen how easy these are to decorate I'm keen to try something else and use my own imagination for the papers and embellies !!! hehehe !!

Anyway, I hope you like it and have a go at altering something that Tando Creative make. They are really cheap to and ideal for gifts. You could even use your scraps to decorate them with.

Right, must zoom. The girls are shouting me to play a board game with them !

Have a fantastic Bank Holiday Monday and enjoy the sunshine !

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you leave, it was lovely to see you today !

Secretive Tilda

Well surprise, surprise, it's me ! I've even surprised myself by posting on my blog and it's NOT DT work !!!

It's been a very busy time (although I'm not complaining) but the blogging does suffer.

I had a chance to have a play with some new goodies that I have bought recently which have sat in an envelope waiting to be played with which has just about killed me I can tell you !!

I took two photos because I included a tag behind the image and thought I ought to show you that too !!!

The DP's are a mix of BasicGrey Basics in Kraft and Websters Pages (which are just sooo yummy !).

The image is Secretive Tilda and you can pre-order this gorgeous stamp from Simon Says Stamp. She has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The lace and flowers are from my stash.

The sentiment is by Hero Arts and is from a set called "Anytime Messages" which you can purchase from Simon Says Stamp.

I am entering my card for the following challenges :

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything Goes

Crafty Emma's Store - Anything Goes

Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog - Distressed Birthdays

I was so excited to see that the card I made for this week's Simon Says Challenge was one of the winning cards over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge ! !

Thank you so much for coming over to visit me and for any comments you may leave. As always, they mean so much especially when I haven't been around very much.

Take care and have a fabulous Bank Holiday Weekend and I'm hoping that the sun comes out to play with us !

Simon Says Challenge - Paper Piecing

Good morning. I hope you are all OK and enjoying the last few days of the Summer holidays.

Looks like its going to be a very wet one for us today so a good idea to get in the craft room I reckon ! Why not join in with our challenge over at Simon Says Challenge ?

This week our theme is PAPER PIECING.

The DP's are Pink Paislee "Queen Bee" which you can now buy in the Simon Says Stamp Store along with lots of other yummy papers !

The image is by Penny Black and is called "Pieces of Quiet" (if only we could all get our kids to do this for us !!). I have paper pieced his trousers and jumper and coloured the rest with ProMarkers.

The buttons are by BasicGrey.

The stars I cut from my Cricut (I knew it would come in handy for something !!).

Everything I have used you can buy in the Simon Says Stamp Store !

There is a prize of a $25 P&P free shopping spree in the Simon Says Stamp Store kindly donated by Heidi.

I have followed our super duper talented DT's member, Domi, sketch over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge so I'm also going to enter this challenge.

We hope you can join us and we look forward to seeing your paper piecing.

Right, I'm now zooming off to take Mollie to a diving lesson. She dived off the 3 metre board yesterday (gulp !) - what a brave girl - you wouldn't catch me up there !!

Take care and thank you for your visit,

Well, there are no strict rules and the comments I make below are not compulsory to enter this draw but it would be nice if :

You could give your support to Simon Says Stamp, BasicGrey Challenges and myself by becoming a follower if you are not already. Links to both of these are in my sidebar.

Add my blog candy to your sidebar and please feel free to "take away" my blinkie

Join in with us at BasicGrey Challenges and also Simon Says Stamp's challenge blog, Simon Says Challenge ! You can combine challenges with both of these challenge blogs which is great news ! Links to both of these are in my sidebar and relevant posts.

This blog candy will be open to everyone Worldwide (including all DT members of both challenge blogs) until Saturday 4th September when I shall draw a winner with a random number generator and post a new fabby blog candy for you to enter.

To make it much quicker for me to choose a winner, I am using inlinkz but there is a catch !!!Every fortnight I shall ask you a question and I would like you to answer that question after your name. It will be a one word answer so not difficult.

I've just come back from holiday. I haven't been abroad for a long time but I absolutely adored my holidays to Florida and Greece. So this fortnight, I would like to know....

What is your favourite holiday destination ?

For example, you would type your answer as Jo Nevill (Florida)

Anyone not leaving the answer to my question in inlinkz will have their name deleted to stop spammers and also people only entering for the sake of it (if you know what I mean and I don't wish to be rude in anyway).

I would like to give a huge thank you to both Heidi and Steph of Simon Says Stamp for giving me this fantastic candy again for you to win.

BasicGrey Challenges - Fabric

Good morning and welcome to another BasicGrey Challenges. This week we have a fantastic challenge for you - fabric. Yes, we would like you to use some fabric somewhere in your creation.

The Design Team have made some amazing cards again for you this week and are the most amazing inspiration.

There is a terrific prize of a $25 shopping spree with Simon Says Stamp for the winner and from what I have seen of the new stock arriving, you won't know where to start spending it !!!

The DP's I have used are BasicGrey Indian Summer which are full of rich, warm colours. Just love 'em !

The image is by Crafty Individuals and I have stamped this onto some linen fabric I had in my stash with some archival ink in chocolate. I frayed the edges of the linen and then inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

The little brads are by BasicGrey.

The flourishes are the Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies.

The flower is a Tim Holtz/Sizzix tattered florals flower which I cut from the same linen as the image, I stamped a Hero Arts text stamp onto it and sprayed it with old lace, cranberry and harvest orange glimmer mist.

We look forward to seeing your creations with fabric.

Right, must dash. I'm making the most of hubs being home and giving the house a late Spring clean ! It's quite a sad event really as its forced us to get rid of quite a few baby things like the nappy box, stair gate at the bottom of the stairs and the toy box from our bedroom. The happy news is that the bedroom now looks HUGE and adult again !

Take care, have a great weekend and we hope you can come and join us this week in our challenge.

Simon Says Challenge - Make A Gift

RAMBLE ALERT..........!!!!!!!

Well, just look at the state of this blog ! Poor thing is so neglected ! We have just returned from our holiday in the Isle of Wight. We had a mixed time, the campsite was awful, the weather was very mixed but we made the most of it and had a wonderful time with plenty of laughs along the way.

The Isle of Wight seems to be a place lost in time. Do you know they have a "Wimpey" there ? We also went to see Toy Story 3 in a cinema in Ryde. Well, this cinema is the oldest one I have been in for a very long time. They still had the lady with the torch to help you to your seat and it cost us £2.50 to get in. OK, we didn't have the full Dolby surround sound or reclining seats with headrests but it was fantastic and the kids loved it. It's also nice to read that I wasn't the only one who sobbed my socks off at the end and highly embarrassed the whole family !!!

Anyway, back to this week's challenge on Simon Says Challenge. We want you to make a gift. We have a very special Guest Designer joining us so please welcome Jackie and leave her a comment on her wonderful gift she has made this week.

My gift looks dull and drab compared to the rest of the DT's creations. I followed a tutorial on Splitcoasters and made a coaster mini album for my hubby. We took loads of photos while we were away so I thought me might like a little reminder of our hols. I won't show you the inside as its not finished yet, I need some more time to fill it up with the photos !!

The DP's are Basic Grey Basics in Kraft and Manila. I added some picket fence crackle paint to the edges and inked them with vintage photo distress ink.

The top of the kraft paper has been punched with a notebook punch from Stampin Up.

The "Family" stamp is by Heidi Swapp.

The sprockets and gears are by Tim Holtz and I added a game spinner to the centre of one of them also by Tim Holtz.

The clip is by Tim Holtz too !

All these yummies can be found in the Simon Says Stamp Store !

The brown twill ribbon is from my stash.

I have added pages inside the album ready for photos from kraft card.

The chipboard coasters are actually the card found on the back of telephone note pads. I pop into my old place of work every so often and they save them for me instead of putting them in the bin ! I just rounded the corners with a corner rounding punch.

There is a fantastic prize of a $25 P&P free shopping spree !

The rest of the DT have made some very inspiring gifts, please hop over and have a look. We can't wait to see what you make !

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave. Hopefully I shall be around just a little bit more than usual !

The DP's are DCWV "The Green Stack"

The image is a Stampabilities "Gruffies" stamp called "Wheelbarrow Ride" and this has been coloured with ProMarkers

Simon Says Challenge - Song Title !

Welcome to another Simon Says Challenge !

This week we would like to see a song title in your creation - you must see the cards the rest of the DT have made - wow !!

There is of course a shopping spree of $25 plus free shipping as this week's prize and judging by the goodies I have seen from the CHA piccies on Facebook, you are going to need this prize when Heidi stocks Simon up to the roof !!!

I've been up to my eyes in commission work recently and its been like Santa's Grotto in my craft room so I thought I may as well get on and make a couple of Christmas cards while my Christmas box is out.

The papers are Cosmo Cricket "Jolly by Golly".

The image is Anya by The Greeting Farm and she has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The tag has been cut with a Spellbinders die and the sentiment is a Melissa Frances transfer.

The snowflake has been cut with a Sizzix snowflake die.

The flowers are from my stash.

You can of course buy nearly all of these products in the Simon Says Stamp Store !

We look forward to seeing what song titles you come up with - should be a fun challenge this one !

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave, they always mean so much.

Take care and see you soon !
