You Fill My Day With Colour ! - Fun with Kuretake !

Today I have something just a little different from me on my blog and its something I am really excited about !

A few weeks ago I spotted a Design Team Call for Kuretake UK on Instagram.  Being an obsessive lover of all pens, pencils, paints and anything crafty, I just knew I had to give this opportunity a whirl !

So, here goes !  The brief is :

"This year, 2015-2016, Kuretake are celebrating their 30th Year Anniversary (wooo hooo  - many congratulations ! ).  To help celebrate this achievement, they would like a project made relating to this company milestone"

Kuretake UK Ltd is home to ZIG®'s vast range of markers, pens and writing tools and are passionate about art and crafts.

This is my project !

These are the supplies I used :

Kuretake Gansai Tambi Solid Water Colours - 36 Colours Set
Winsor & Newton Foundation Brushes
Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock
Simon Says Stamp Color and Sunshine Stamp and Die Set
Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes Stamp Set
Versafine Black Onyx ink
Versamark ink
Wow Embossing Powder
Hero Arts Embossing Powder
My Favorite Things Fishtail Stax Dies
Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock

You can find links to everything I used below.

This is how I made my card.

Firstly, I die cut the pencils from the watercolor card using the pencil die from the Simon Says Stamp Color and Sunshine Die Set with my Big Shot.

I then stamped the pencil image onto the die cuts from the Simon Says Stamp Color and Sunshine Stamp Set with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

The next step was to line up the pencil die cuts onto a piece of watercolor card using masking tape.

I then chose the paints for the pencils.  From the set I used :

Yellow : 40 (Lemon Yellow), 42 (Bright Yellow) and 44 (Light Brown)
Orange : 33 (Orange) and 46 (Brown)
Red : 34 (Dark Pink) and (Carmine Red)
Purple : 38 (Deep Violet) and 139 (Purple)
Blue : 62 (Cobalt Blue) and (Persian Blue)

Large blobs of paint were added to the bottom of each pencil, I tilted the card until each blob ran to the bottom of the card.

Next, I painted each pencil

I die cut the fishtail from back card using the My Favorite Things Fishtail Stax die.  I chose the embossing powders I wanted to use and then brushed the fishtail with the powder tool before firstly embossing the word "colour" onto the fishtail.

To achieve the two tone colour of the word "colour" I firstly stamped the word in Versamark ink before adding the mustard colour to half of the word and apricot to the other half.  I then heat embossed the word with my heat gun.  I then stamped the rest of the sentiment in Versamark before adding Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat setting with my heat gun.

This is the completed heat embossed sentiment.

The final task was to stamp "Happy Birthday" at the bottom of the card in Versamark Black Onyx Ink before assembling the whole card onto a black cardstock base which measures 4.5" (11.5cm) x 5 3/4" (14.8 cm).

The pencils were attached using small foam pads and the sentiment was attached using a foam pad on the left hand side and a run of Scotch runner tape along the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my project and my step by step photos.  I have really enjoyed making this project and I'm keeping everything crossed !

I hope you have a great weekend and lets hope the sun keeps shining on us !
