My Arty Side !

I've noticed a lot of you getting in touch with your arty sides recently !  It's always good to try something different isn't it ?  I already had all the supplies going dusty on my shelf so decided to blow the dust off and have a go !

I started off with a piece of white card and applied a coat of gesso and let it dry.
I then cracked open some Cosmic Shimmer paints which are years old and used a burnt orange colour and iridescent gold and then let those dry.
I then mixed some Perfect Pearls in bronze and pearl with some water and "splatted" them onto the card.  I have a big old pizza box I use for this so I get splat everything around me !!!

I then stamped up various stamps from these two fabulous Hero Arts sets and stamped them using the distress inks and breathed heavily on them (poor things !) to give them enough moisture to give a water coloured look.  I saw Tim Holtz do this in a demo of distress markers the other day.  I'm sure these stamps would have preferred Tim breathing on them rather than me !!!

Anyway, here's a couple of photos of the end result and a close up so you can see those Perfect Pearls.

I can't really say its something I will be converting to in my card making but it was fun and great to try something a bit different for a change.

As always, you can see a list of most of the products I used although some of them are years old and I sure they have been discontinued now but Simon Says Stamp sells paints called "Shimmerz" which I am sure are very similar to the old Cosmic Shimmer paints.

There is a challenge going on over at Splitcoaststampers which I also took part in the other day.  Their featured stamper is my fellow teamie, Joy and I just adore Joy's work.  The challenge is to case one of Joy's cards.  Joy gave me great inspiration with this card she made.

Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper - FS361

Have a great day and why not try something new today ?
