I've been struck down with Covid again 😢

On the plus side, its given me the excuse to binge watch YouTube !  A favourite has been the Tim Holtz channel and his demos.  The down side to that is that it ends up costing me money !  

One of the videos I watched showed a demo of using distress sprays and distress paint on woodgrain card.  I had some Simon Says Stamp woodgrain card, some browns in distress sprays and the lost shadow distress paint so gave it a go for this week's card.  I even found a brayer in amongst my collection of tools so no money was spent for this card.  I would however like to get some antique linen distress paint as I think it would be better for the wood effect.  Heres a link to the video I watched :

Grungy Birthday !

 Playing with alcohol inks !

Made a grungy card for a birthday.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos and they make it look so easy !

I guess I'll have to practise lots !

It's fun !

Using Ranger pitch black, honeycomb and gilded alcohol inks along with 99% isopropyl alcohol and alcohol blending solution on Yupo paper and Tim Holtz blower.  I found the grungy looking "Happy Birthday" stamp in my collection and used a alcohol lift off ink pad to remove some of the ink so it left a lighter area for stamping.  I actually like it !

Don't you just love it when a product or technique is revived ?!  I've had a pad of unused yupo paper and these alcohol inks sat on a shelf for ages and never used them as I was never sure how to, that is until 

now !  Tim had one of his fabulous "lives" over on YouTube about a week or so ago about alcohol inks and surfaces and I watched as I was curious.  Well ! I couldn't wait to play !  How exciting is this !

I did buy separately a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and also used the blending solution.  On the parts where the inks were still tacky, I rubbed over some gold foil.  The gold foil I used was the gold foil transfer sheets.  Just gently rub and remove and the foil sticks to the tacky parts leaving beautiful veining.  Give it a try I can guarantee its fun !
