BasicGrey Challenges

I am so sorry I am late with my card for this week's challenge. We have been out and about most of this week trying to find myself a newer car and that in itself has been a challenge ! I have had for the last 6 years or so a Daihatsu Terios and I absolutely adore it. I've looked at other makes but nothing compares so I've been trying to find a replacement Terios. Because of the recession and the fact that Japan are not exporting any new cars at the moment and won't be until later on next year, they are as rare as hen's teeth ! I'm not lucky enough to be able to afford a brand new one (if you can find one), but I managed to get my hands on a gorgeous baby similar to this one......

Can't wait to pick her up !!

We have also been potty training Fizzy and I'm sure you can remember what that is like following them around with a potty and cloth all day long and washing and ironing coming out of my ears !! Ok, too much info !!! I am very pleased to report that it has been highly successful. Well, I had to find some way of funding my new baby, hey ?!!!!! hehehehe ! (only joking !).

Anyway, onto this week's BasicGrey Challenge. My bezzy mate and fellow DT member Tara W gave us this photo for inspiration this week

The fantastic news is that Simon Says Stamp is going to sponsor our challenge every fortnight now so you have more of a chance to win !

The DP's are BasicGrey "Bittersweet"

The image is from the Sugar Nellie Autumn kit which I absolutely adore and every image is such a pleasure to colour. She has of course been coloured with ProMarkers.

The flowers are Maya Road velvet flowers which I bought from Ally Pally. I thought the room in the picture looked warm and cozy and these flowers were just perfect for warmth I think.

The leaves have been punched with a Woodware punch and sprayed with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist which has a pinkey/orangey glow to it - gorgeous and very autumnal.

The flowers and leaves in the photo have a story attached to them too ! On our travels this week to find my car, we popped into a garden centre near Bristol for some lunch and have a look around. What a fantastic afternoon we had. The place was full of Christmas decorations which the girls loved and the look on Fizzy's face was a picture. She's 2½ and so all the bright lights and glittery decorations were just so new to her and she walked around just saying "wow" !! They also had pumpkin carving so we carved a couple of pumpkins and brought one home to make some homemade soup (which was delish) and then we had some lunch. While eating our lunch I was looking at the display the staff had created with pumpkins and these huge candle rings of autumn leaves and I thought how fantastic one of those candle rings would be for photographing cards with.

Anyway, I asked a member of staff about them who then dismantled the whole display so she could see if they had a price ticket on them ! They didn't of course. She asked if I would like to buy them and how many would I like. I said that it would depend on how much they were going to sell them for and she ummed and arred and said "50p for the two" ! Well, how I stopped myself from hugging and kissing her I don't know but anyway, I bought them and left her to rearrange the display !!! It's not the first time a shop has had to redo its entire display because I wanted to buy something in it which they don't stock !!!

Well, I'll leave you to hop along to the rest of the DT's blogs now ! Sorry if I've waffled on a bit today !

Thank you for visiting me and for any comment you leave - they mean to much.

Simon Says Challenge

Good morning ! I hope I find you all fit and well and enjoying your Half Term break ?

This week at Simon Says Challenge we want to see you all get sparkly in our challenge "All That Sparkles" so time to get covered in glitter, pearls, gems, tinsel and anything else sparkly you can find lurking in your stash !!

I followed the sketch on Friday Sketchers for last week which was lovely.

The DP's are are good mix of a few ! My Mind's Eye, The Merry Days of Christmas "Santa's Forest", Fancy Pants, Christmas Magic "On the Tree" (this is the reverse side of the paper I used for my CC Designs card in the post below this one) and Making Memories, FaLaLa "Music Note" which I bought last year.

The tag is from a packet of kraft tags and I replaced the string with some garden twine. I inked it with some dusted corduroy distress ink and then stamped a text stamp onto it with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

Tilda has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The velvet ribbon is a Prima ribbon which was a pressie from Heidi in a Christmas DT pack we received a couple of weeks ago. So luxurious isn't it ? You should have a stroke of it, its soooo soft !!!

The crystals are Prima "Say it with Crystals"

The winter stamp is by Cats Life Press and has been stamped with distress ink. I also added some twinkles with a Copic Spica pen.

Heidi is very generously offering another $25 P&P shopping spree for the lucky winner and both I and the rest of the DT look forward to seeing your sparkly creations.

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy. All you have to do to enter is click HERE !

Have a great day and thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave.

Big hugs to all !

All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge

Good afternoon everyone !

I was so excited this morning when I discovered that All That Scraps are having a weekly challenge blog and you can use any stamps they carry in their store. Well, I just adore the CC Designs stamps so just had to have a go at this new challenge.

So, with hubby out of the house for an hour or so taking the girls swimming, I decided to have a crafty morning, on my own, in total silence - heavenly bliss !!!

The challenge this week is a tall card challenge, as tall as you can make it !

My card is DL size.

If you click on the photo, it will make it larger so you can see all the detail.

The DP's are the absolutely gorgeous Fancy Pants, Christmas Magic "On the Tree".

The image and sentiment are CC Designs Angel Emma and she has been coloured with ProMarkers.

Colours : Hair - tan, cinnamon and cocoa. Skin - ivory, blush and Copic E01. Dress - satin and cardinal red. Outline - cool grey 2

I covered her wings in diamond stickles.

The flowers I made myself using the reverse of the paper and two different sizes of retro flower punch. I added a pale blue pearl to the centres and punched some holly leaves from some silver card with an EK Success holly leaf punch and added some diamond stickles to these too.

The ribbon is from my local market.

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you leave - they always mean so much.

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy. All you have to do to enter is click HERE !

Colour Create Challenge and some Fantastic News !

Good morning everyone and welcome to another challenge from us girlies at Colour Create ! This week the challenge was set by our wonderful Heather.

The colour combo we have for you this week is quite simply, all white !

The Design Team's creations are truly stunning again this week and such an inspiration.

Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp with a $25 P&P free shopping spree !

The card that I made also leads me onto my fantastic news !

I have been asked by Kay to join the Toodles and Binks Design Team ! I have been a fan of Toodles and Binks stamps for a long time now and I'm so excited to be part of their team ! Toodles and Binks are also looking for an extra DT member - details are on their blog.

Right, back to my card. I embossed the card with a snowflake Cuttlebug folder.

The image is a Toodles and Binks stamp and her name is Celeste. She has been coloured with ProMarkers and I have added oodles of glamour dust and stickles to her ! You can find all the Toodles and Binks stamps to purchase at The Stamp Galaxy but here is Celeste.

The swirly piece of card/border is Bazzill "Just the Edge" which arrived with a lot of other goodies from my very special friend Tara the other day. She has already had a good telling off for sending me such yummy goodies but what a lovely thought from such a wonderful lady that Tara is. I just can't wait to meet up with her at the NEC, finally we will be face to face and no doubt will have sore throats and no voices by the end of the day as we can both talk for England !!! Love ya darlin !!

The white pearls and ribbon are from my stash.

We look forward to seeing your "all white" creations this week.

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave, they mean so much to me.

Have a great day and try and keep warm and dry !

Hugs to all,

Simon Says Challenge

Good morning ! You will be pleased to know I am feeling more cheerful today so you can speak to me without me biting off your head !!! I did manage to have a power nap along to CBBC/CBeebies and I think I even managed a little snore which woke me up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enough of my sleeping habits, you want to know about this week's challenge. Well, this week our challenge to you is "Get Well Soon".

I have actually made my card for a very dear fellow crafter and blogger Riet who is very poorly at the moment. Many, many of you would have come across Riet as not only is she a fantastic crafter but I think she must leave a comment on every crafter's blog in the Universe ! Get well soon Riet, we miss you and your wonderful cards.

We have a very special girl who will be joining us in our Designer Spotlight, her name is HANNA , she is only 13 years old and makes the most amazing creations, if you haven't visited her blog you are in for a treat. Thanks for agreeing to join us Hanna :-) x x

As usual Heidi is offering a shopping spree to her store ,, and she will pay shipping too :-)

The DP's are My Minds Eye "Wild Asparagus".

The image is a Stampavie stamp by Helz Cuppleditch and this one is called "Teddy say it with flowers". This gorgeous little bear has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The flowers I made using different size EK Success retro flower punches and I inked the edges. The centres are sparkly stamens I bought from Ally Pally. I think they look so pretty in real life.

The sentiment is from a Clare Curd clear stamp sentiment set and the banner has been cut with a Sizzix die.

Thank you for visiting me and for any comments you may leave - I really do appreciate them.

Blog Candy - I apologise for my lack of blog candy so far this fortnight. Heidi and Terre have been away for the last week on a crafting cruise with non other than Mr Holtz himself (lucky girls) and so "Simon" has been two staff down and they are rushed off their feet. As soon as they are able to give me a photo, I will post the next candy so please keep checking back. Thank you for your patience.

Hope you all have a great day. I'm off out to a sponsored trundle at pre-school at lunchtime. It will be so much fun watching the 2-4 year old pushing pushchairs, bikes, scooters and anything else they can trundle with around an obstacle course !!!

Hugs to all,

Little Miss Sunshine !!!!!

Lil Pixie

Good morning. What a wet and miserable day we have today. I need some Autumn sunshine to cheer me up. I'm feeling very miserable today due to lack of sleep.

I did have a lovely evening when my friend Bev came over for some card making tips and we sat together and made very similar cards so it was great to sit and have a natter and craft at the same time but it ended up being a late night and then my most darling daughter in the whole wide World decided to wake up at 4.45am and not go back to sleep so I'm not too clever at functioning on about 5 hours sleep and two wonderful children to look after all day long !

Our wonderful school has decided to tag 3 TD days onto the beginning of their holiday so they are home now for a full fortnight - how spendid !!

Anyway, you don't want to hear me moaning away do you ? You want to see a card well, here it is :

The DP's are Cosmo Cricket "Honey Pie".

The image is one of the little Pixie's from CC Designs which shamefully I have never inked up before. She has been coloured with ProMarkers.

Talking about CC Designs, have you seen the sneak peaks of their new Christmas kit ? Oh my goodness, I do not know how I am going to stop myself from buying those beauties. If it wasn't for the fact I am off to the NEC in 18 sleeps time (if I ever do get any sleep), they would be winging their way over the Atlantic as we speak !!

The lace, button and cord are from my stash.

Bev said that she is going to taking a photo of her card later and putting it on her new blog ! It's looking very bare at the moment as this is the first card Bev has made ! Please hop over later this evening and take a look and leave her some nice supportive comments and if you can throw some advice in for a first timer at the same time, she would greatly appreciate it.

I wonder if I can pinch 5 minutes of shut eye while CBeebies is on ? ummmm !

See you back here tomorrow for the new challenge over at Simon Says Challenge.

Thank you for visiting and for any comments you may leave.

Forever grateful,

Misery Guts ! xxxxx

BasicGrey Challenges

Good morning and here we are again with another BasicGrey Challenge for you. I know I'm always saying it but I just can't believe how quickly a fortnight passes by !

This week we have a colour combo for you :

Yes, these colours screamed Christmas/Winter to me but we have such a talented DT on BasicGrey Challenges that a lot of the cards are non-Christmas ones so check them out for inspiration !

The DP's are the new BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses papers - wow these are so gorgeous. I wasn't too sure about them at first but as I started using them I loved them more and more with every sheet !

Now I picked up a fantastic tip the other evening while browsing through my emails. I had a newsletter from Joanna Sheen and one of the hints and tips on there was this.....

When you are laying up images and papers and don't have any card to match the papers/colours you have coloured your image with, edge a piece of white card with the colours you have chosen to colour your image or matches the papers !

Well, I had never in a million years thought of that easy and obvious tip ! So, there you go. All the pieces of layering card are white pieces of card that I have edged with a dusky rose and marsh green ProMarker pen - simples !!

The image is of course the gorgeous Anya and she has been coloured with ProMarkers. I masked Anya and stamped some random snowflakes to the background and brushed some pearl Perfect Pearls to them. I love the effect it has given. I have also edged the image in stickles.

The silver ribbon is from my local shop.

The flower I made using my EK Success retro flower punches (I think you might see a lot of these flowers now !) and I have covered the petals in Twinklets and added a BasicGrey Wassail epoxy brad to the centre.

The sentiment is a Melissa Frances transfer.

I am also entering my card in Willow Sketchie's challenge this week. Willow Sketchie is now taking cards with any image on them, not just their own and this week they have a fab sketch to follow which was designed by my mate Zoe who is one very clever and talented chick !! Zoe makes the most amazing cards and has a gorgeous blog but for some unknown reason she seems to be one of those bloggers who can't get a seat on the front row (if you know what I mean). Please hop over to her blog and have a look at her fantastic, gorgeous creations and tell her what a talented young lass she is ! This is Zoe's sketch and its a beauty to work with. I shall definitely be using this one again.

We look forward to seeing all your amazing creations.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, looks like its going to be a nice sunny one (cross fingers !).

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE ! This will be closing later on this evening so make sure you get your name down for this one !

Thank you for visiting me and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap Online with Marlene

Wow, what a blast I have had tonight ! Marlene very kindly sent out an invitation to join her on her blog tonight at 8pm for a scrap online. All the instructions are still there on her blog if you would still like to join in.

Here is the card I made. I was amazed that the layout actually resembled Marlene's card at the end !!

I'm sorry about the poor picture quality but taking a photo at 9.30pm is not the best time of day but in this case, it has to be done !! I will see if I can take a better photo tomorrow.

** Edited ** I have now taken a new photo although its still very dark as the sun has decided to disappear on us all today - sorry. It's still better than the last one !!!

All the DP's are 3 Bugs in a Rug "Hoppy Bird-day" as are the flowers and the die cut sentiment.

The image is a Ketto image which was kindly given to me by my good friend Kim when we met at Ally Pally. This gorgeous little girl was coloured with ProMarkers (no, not Kim !!). The edge of the image has been edged in Stickles (still wet) ! and I added some sparklies and a bit of ribbon too. The ribbon is the only bit I'm not quite taken with.

What a fantastic time we all had. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Marlene will host another scrap online for us.

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave, its so kind of you ! Mwah !

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE !

Hugs to all,

Simon Says Challenge

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE !

I am sorry. I am running so late this morning with my post but I am here with it now !!

This week on Simon Says Challenge we have a fantastic sketch for you by our one and only Domi !

What a fantastic sketch it is too and I shall definately be saving this one and using it again.

This week's designer in the spotlight is the awesomely talented Alina of Simcards.

This is my take on Domi's sketch.

The DP's are Paper Salon "Dazzle" which I bought last year and didn't get round to using.

Tilda has been coloured with ProMarkers (of course !) and I have added some stickles to the edge of the circle.

The flowers I made myself using two sizes of EK Success retro flower punches and a gem for the centre and stickles on the petals. The leaves are a tiny holly leaf punch I bought from Ally Pally.

The buttons and ribbon are from my stash.

The "Merry Christmas" stamp is a Stamps Away stamp which has been stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

As always, the rest of the DT's cards are stunning this week. Please pop on over and leave them some lovely comments.

The prize is a $25 P&P free shopping spree kindly given by Heidi.

Thank you for visiting me and for any comments you leave - they mean so much as always.

Hugs to you all,

Gorgeous Autumn !

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE !

Good evening ! Thank goodness its Friday !

Well, I managed to have a play this afternoon and it was lovely being all warm and cozy inside while it was pouring with rain and cold outside. I was just in the mood to make an autumnal card with the new papers I had bought from Ally Pally and the new stamps I had bought from Funky Kits/Sugar Nellie.

I have managed to enter my card for 5 challenges !

I ♥ Promarkers who have a fabby sketch to follow.

Crafty Calendar - this is a brand new challenge blog which has been sent up by my blogging buddy Tara's daughter, Georgia who is only 13 years old ! She is an amazing crafter herself, just like her Mum ! The theme for the next month is "Autumn".

Stamp Something - A colour combo of brown plus something.

Stampin for the Weekend - A colour combo of orange, brown and leafy green.

One Stop Craft Challenge - their theme is Autumn Inspiration.

The base card is dark green Bazzill.

The DP's are Crate Paper "Cowgirl". These are such gorgeous papers, so rich in their colour and have a fantastic texture to them. I bought these in a bargain bag at Ally Pally. Wish I had bought more now ! Hopefully the stall will be at the NEC in Birmingham.

The image is from Funky Kits and is the Sugar Nellie Autumn Kit which is just gorgeous. I love every single one of the images on the sheet and they are such a pleasure to colour. It has of course been coloured with ProMarkers ! I have inked the edges with brushed corduroy distress ink.

Colours : Skin - Ivory, blush and Copic E01. Hair - cocoa and burnt sienna. Hat, top, dress and tights - coral, burnt orange, buttercup and tulip yellow. Shoes - cinnamon and cocoa. Hedgehog - cinnamon and cocoa. Leaves - mixture of browns, yellows and oranges !

The flower I made myself taking inspiration from the tutorial on the Just Magnolia Blog using the EK Success retro flower punches, inking the edges and screwing them up (wow, what a tension releaser !!!). I stapled the centre and added a wooden button which I had to sand down first and add some distress ink as it was too pale !! The leaves have been punched with a Woodware punch. I sprayed the flower with antique lace glimmer mist which has a copper/pink shine to it - beautiful. You can perhaps see it better in the close up piccy.

The three leaves at the bottom have been cut with a Quickutz leaf die - oh am I glad I bought this, I can see it being used a lot !

The sentiment is a Catslife Press stamp which I bought direct from Catslife Press. They offer a fantastic service and their P&P is really cheap too. This is been stamped in walnut stain distress ink.

Right, must go and tend to my animals and harvest my crops on my farm on Facebook !!!

Hope you all have a great weekend and lets hope the sun comes out to play.

Thank you for visiting and for any comments you may leave, they mean so much.

Love and hugs,

Colour Create Challenge

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE !

Good morning and what a beautiful one it is too. Makes such a change from the last two days where I have been soaked through to me undies on each and every school run - not a pretty sight I can assure you !!

Moving away from that awful thought we have another challenge for you on the Colour Create Challenge Blog . This week's colour combo was chosen by the wonderful Janny and she chose red, yellow, black and white and the optional extra is checks and flowers.

Now I don't know why but for the past few challenges the colour combos have been screaming things at me and this time it was black and white checks. I just couldn't think beyond black and white checks !

I made the black and white check background myself by colouring all the squares with a black ProMarker. I did contemplate weaving the background as Sharon did but gave this up as a bad job after a few attempts !

I cut the red and yellow circles on my Cricut and embossed them all with my Cuttlebug and arranged the yellow circles so it looked like a big flower.

The image is Hippie Anya from The Greetings Farm and she has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The flowers are Hero Arts flowers which were originally white until I coloured them with ProMarkers. The brads were also dark blue until I attacked them with a black ProMarker - so useful these pens, can you tell how much I love em ?!!

"Groovy" was computer generated and I cut the letters out and stick them on !

This week's challenge is being sponsored by our one and only wonderful Chris, Sketching Stamper - thank's Chris !

We look forward to seeing your creations for this fortnight's challenge.

Thank you for visiting and for any comments you leave. Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine !

Simon Says Challenge

Don't forget to enter my BasicGrey Blog Candy ! All you have to do is CLICK HERE !

What a fabulous response we had to both challenges last week, it was so lovely to have so many of you playing along with us.

This week we are getting in the halloween mood and want to see your scary creations ! The rest of the DT have done an amazing job and their cards and gift boxes are just fantastic, hop over and take a look. Heidi is very generously giving away a $25 shopping spree to the winner of this challenge and Simon Says Stamp has the most amazing halloween goodies in store right now.

If you click on the photo you will see a larger picture. I have no idea what I have done to it this time ! hehehe !

You may remember I told you a couple of weeks ago that Heidi very generously sent the DT a kit for halloween and I've used quite a few of those goodies on my card.

I took my inspiration for the layout of this card from a fantastic sketch on Sunday Sketch and Stamp and so I am going to enter that challenge with this card too.

The DP's are BasicGrey "Eerie". One was called "Mummy" and the other I am sure was called "Couldron" (I think I have stuck the name to the card !!!).

The image is Tilda from last year's halloween stamp set. She has been coloured with ProMarkers.

The spiders webs are also a stamp from a Magnolia fall kit and they have been stamped in Brilliance Starlight Black so it has a silver sheen to it.

The edges have been inked in spiced marmalade distress ink.

The bats, ghosts and orange spiders web ribbon can be bought here

The flowers and dew drops were all in my kit from Heidi as was the sentiment which is an Inkadinkado stamp which I have stamped and heat embossed with twinkling black embossing powder. I sprayed the flowers with some silver glimmer mist.

I had such fun making this card with all those bright, bold colours. Its such a shame that we don't celebrate halloween the way they do in other Countries, its such a wonderful time of year and warms you up ready for Christmas I think - do you think so too ?

We look forward to seeing all your spooktactular creations !

Thank you for your visit and for any comments you may leave, they mean so much to me.

See you back here tomorrow for Colour Create !

Good afternoon ! I hope you all enjoyed World Cardmaking Day yesterday and managed to get creative. It was so great blog hopping and seeing what everyone was up to. The challenge over at Simon Says Challenge has been extended by another 24 hours as it was so popular so there is still time to take part.

I was able to make another card with my DT kit from Elaine of Quixotic Paperie and while working my way around Facebook I found the challenge blog I ♥ ProMarkers and of course, you all know how much I adore my ProMarkers ! They have a terrific sketch to follow and I couldn't wait to get started !

The distressed piece of card is Core'dinations which I have distressed and inked with antique linen distress ink. I then stamped a text stamp that I bought from Ally Pally on it with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

The DP's are My Minds Eye "Laundry Line" and these are just so gorgeous and sparkly.

The image is by Whimsey and is "Princess Emma" and she has of course been coloured with ProMarkers.

Colours : Skin - Ivory, blush and Copic E01. Hair : vanilla, sandstone and cocoa. Dress : soft peach and coral, almond and putty and burnt orange. Tiara and star on wand : buttercup and clear Sakura gel pen for sparkle. I also added this to her necklace.

The crochet ribbon is here

The pearls are here

The flowers, spacer and brad are from my stash.

The sentiment is a Melissa Frances transfer.

He has been coloured with ProMarkers and I can't believe that I have tidied up after myself for a change and can't remember the colours ! I know they are definately the new colours and I would have a guess at tan, caramel and chestnut ! I have also inked the image with faded jeans and antique linen distress inks.

The buttons are from my stash and so is the twine but I believe you can also buy this at Quixotic Paperie.

The sentiment is Melissa Frances transfer.

We also have a special guest designer for October :-

"Many of you may already know Ruth from A Passion for Cards as not only is she a super talented crafter but she is a super talented illustrator and a really lovely lady too :). Ruth has just started to sell her own stamp designs and they really are adorable, pop on over to her blog A Passion for Cards to see her creations using her stamps and to see the full range of stamps pop on over to her A Passion for Stamps blog :)."

Welcome to the team Ruth, we hope you have fun !

Please also hop over and have a look at the rest of the DT's fabby creations. Coinsidentally we seem to be having a bit of an "animal" theme going this week !
